There is a little barrel thing-a-ma-jig mounted to the side of the coil. It's about 1" long, .5" or so diameter, with one wire going into it. Anybody know what this thing is? And where I can get a replacement (the wire came out of the hole).

Thanks!

My understanding is that it lessens noise for the radio. Not sure if it is a resistor or a capacitor.

My parts stores did not list it for my '88 GW. So we got out the book and found one that looked like it and I use it.

While it was off my vehicle, I did not notice any change from when it was hooked up. I pulled my wire out accidently when checking the coil.....

My 2 cents.....

It's a condensor/capacitor. My understanding is that it reduces radio-frequency interference (i.e., helps your radio reception). Any auto parts store should have a replacement.

Do we need to worry about this condensor/capacitor for the TFI upgrade??????

Mostly, the capacitor is important for AM and CB reception, afaik.

So run without it. If your radio sucks, replace it. Radio Shack should hook you up.

Thanks all...wasn't too sure if it was necessary. It will be quite a while until I'm worried about the radio reception! Looks like I'll be running without one for a while :D
