Ok, this is for those of you out there with the 79' and up grilles with square headlights who have converted to the older grille with round headlights. If not custom fabbed, what type of bracket did you use, what year, & what model vehicle did it come from? I have bought an older style grille with round headlight buckets, and want to change mine over (going to H4 as well), and want the easiest method to change over.
TIA

The only thing youll need something "fabbed" for is the round headlight buckets. Their mounting holes arent the same layout as the square buckets. I just used some scrap metal and riveted it on and drilled new holes. Its pretty hard to get it all lined up right though. Im probably going to redo mine some day, since my drivers side light is a little off to one side.
If you do H4s, be sure to do the relay conversion, so you can get full power to the lights, and not burn out your switch.

billyrb, I just converted mine to round lights. I
just drilled out the tabs on one of my square buckets
to use as a pattern, then drilled out the tabs on the
round bucket, marked the holes from the square bucket
onto the round bucket, drilled new holes and then
screwed the tabs from the round bucket in the new
holes. Bolted right on after that. Looks alot better with round lights. The parts came from a '76 Wag.

That is a '85 clip with the 70's grill, round headlights and trim rings. Fairly easy to do.
I had the clip out laying down which helped a lot, mounted the grill first & had to grind off the lower mounting tabs as they were too tall.
Dropped the headlight buckets into the clip and inserted the trim rings, this is where you have to play around, only one hole lined up for the bucket mounts, made some tabs and welded them to the clip for the other mounting holes. Once I was happy with the location I drilled new holes for the trim ring mounts. Pretty sure I had to snip a little of the clip away to get the round buckets to fit right but not sure on that.
