Does anyone have any ideas why my transfer case slips into Neutral from the Hi position. I don't think I can kick it with my foot. This happens when driving about 5 to 15 mph. I have a 87 FSJ.

My guess would be bad motor mounts, and/or transmission mounts. There's a tech write up on how to change the motor mounts in the tech section of the ifsja.

the first thought that came to my mind was a bad linkage to the tcase.

Yes, I do have a really bad oil soaked transmission mount.

I was thinking a t-case linkage problem too. I guess a bad motor mount could cause this but it seems that it would happen under acceleration not while just cruising at 5-15 mph, but I've seen weirder things happen.
