I have read and heard that the 77 Cherokee had a TCS or transmission control switch that dealt with distribution timing or spark. Is this switch vacuum controlled and where is it? Can it be replaced? Could it be the source of my surging and stalling problem from my earlier posts? Just wondering.

This past weekend I dropped my fuel tank. Cleaned it out, put an inline filter in the fuel line. Drove ten miles and started the same stalling and stumbling. Wondering in ignition module might not be bad. Please help.

According to the factory shop manual the TCS(Transmission Controled Spark) system was only installed on California CJ's and not on Trucks or Wags.

You might want to pull the top of the carb off and see if you have any rust flakes etc in there fouling the needle/seat. You might be getting rust from inside the steel fuel lines and not the tank. Had that prob on a 50 Willys PU that sat idle for too long.
