Anybody ever replace an ASC with a fixed pop-up sun roof?

I replaced my ASC sunroof with a wag that didn't have one ;)

as long as you maintain them, the ASC's are great.

ASC is brand name of a sunroof. They made sunroof systems that were dealer-installed.

I had an ASC with a full factory vinyl roof on my '87 . It worked perfectly and I was impressed by the size . It was huge !
My '90 has an ASC and it appears smaller than the '87 (or is it my aging mind ). I do know that many installations vary in position and quality of workmanship . By this I mean placement from front to rear on the roof can differ as well as headliner install regarding trim and backing . Still baffled by my recollection of the size of the '87 glass , tho . Were some actually larger?

I don't know about the replacement thing, but from much research and calling around. I found a gentleman who worked for ASC back in the day, he had lots of good stories. He still does sunroofs....The last time I spoke with him was 2 1/2 yrs ago. He still has some parts for that sunroof. If interested i could try to find his number. thanx jim

Well I guess mine leaked as the PO siliconed it from the outside. And disconnected the power it looks like. Thanks.

I've got the ASC on my '87 and it is huge. The only time it leaks is if I'm running the rig through the car wash. Other than that it seals pretty well. While we're on the subject, the old felt seal around the frame is shot. Can I just replace that with camper foam tape or something? Anybody have any ideas or examples of something they've used?

BTW, there's not a whole lot to these roofs and they come apart rather easily. As I recall, once you take the trim pieces out, this exposes the cable drive. That can be popped out, cleaned and lubed too. I can't remember how I got the glass out but this wasn't too bad either FWIW.

And Wagoncrzy, I'd definitely be interested in any source that has parts for these roofs.
