Ok I have been looking at colors for the Wagon. It is factory Olympic White but the PO painted the hood gold. What do you all think about PLUM CRAZY. Would it clash with the wood and look horriable? I think it would look awesome. Here is a link to the paint.

...wow. TO each their own, but it seems awfully bright to go well with the wood. perhaps not though... some creative photochoppin might yield an idea. What is it you're driving?

Edit: sample image pending.

I just don't like the white and trying to find a different color to put on it. (just thinking) I asked my Airman students and of course they said it would look cool, but?? It an 87 Grand Wagoneer.

Please forgive the hasty editing, but this ought to be at least ballpark. I used a shot of my '83 waggy so I'm sure yours would be a bit cleaner, and the hue probably isn't -quite- right...

Actaully thinking of using that color on my J truck when I paint it.
There is a guy in town with a 68 cheby thay color, it is very nice as a solid color
HOWEVER.... it DOES not go with the wood IMO.

Now if your wood is in bas shape and you strip it and paint the entire truck.....

I think it just needs to be a deeper color, perhaps a redder hue with a good dark woodgrain; not my style, but they would go well together then.

First, Thanks for that picture and getting me back to reality. I also was thinking Sinnaker or :Petty Blue?

Bright colors on a big vehicle can be overwhelming. I think the purple would look good on a smaller car, but would be too much on a Wagoneer.

Jeep used s similar color on the Renegade I and II called "Renegade Plum" that was not very popular. Should be very collectible now.

If you are going to buy a stock color, this place has some good prices: http://www.paintforcars.com/acrylic_enamel_paint.html

Metallic paint is hard to shoot even unless you go with a basecoat-clearcoat system. What is your preference? Do you want it to look nice or do you want to make a statement? A solid color like paintforcars VanillaCream would be easy to shoot, inexpensive, and uh, marketable, should you need to. (That's another problem with purple - I think it would be impossible to sell... you might like it, and you might get compliments, but few people would want to own it).

Huh, I love my Renegade plum '74 CJ5 :) Personally, I think it could look great on a Waggy, but probably not with the large woodgrain panels, just the stripe like on the '70's Wagoneers. Those looked great in bright colors (yellow, red, orange

Not a huge fan of that myself. It is fully your choice. I like the more subtle colors with the wood myself. Like a gray or blue.
(Mine is white too, for now)

Huh, I love my Renegade plum '74 CJ5 :)

That was the original color on my CJ and after an accident, my dad had it done in fire engine red. When I restore it, I'm going back to the original, just 'cause I liked it.

Heres what a gray one looks like...

First rule don't ask the airmen anything. There is a kid on FE Warren rocking a donk caprice sitting on twenty-fours. If they said it would be cool then run away. On the other hand, the Chiefs you know and all of the prior enlisted officers would wax nostalgic about the cars they just missed when they started driving. That demonstration panel is brighter than a whole vehicle would be, and that color looks great on curvy metal. Go for it, but not for the airmen. file:///C:/Users/Aaron/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpgThis is not mine, but look at it. I can dig it.http://www.stockmopar.com/_images/challenger/1970-plum-crazy-purple-dodge-challenger-rt/1970-plum-crazy-purple-dodge-challenger-rt-1.jpg
