My newest project is installing the MSD 6a ignition module. I am not sure what to do with the white wire. The instructions say that it should go to the electronic ignition amplifier. Does anyone know which wire that is or is it even needed? The coil has already been replaced with an MSD Blaster II and I plan to remove the existing ignition module.

By the way it's a 1988 GW V8 360.Also I see nothing about any changes for V8 or V6.

Could someone give me a hint? I'd like to try to finish this tonight. I have a guess but I would rather be sure.
Thanks

I've got one I want to pull off my Jimmy and stick on the Jeep, but I haven't got a clue what wire is what anymore. I lost the instructions years ago, and I haven't a clue what the white wire is. I was hoping someone would answer your question so I could make a stab at it.

Have you called MSD? They were helpful when I called them three years ago.

I guess the white wire is the trigger and goes back to the original ignition module or you can use the plug with 2 wires that would connect to the distributor and then you don't use the original ignition module. Does this sound right? Is there an advantage to removing the old module and connecting straight to the distributor for the trigger??

This is basically what I did. If you want you can get all the wiring harness and make a better job of it.

Shows you what the wite wire is for. www.msdignition.com/pdf/pdf17.pdf (http://www.msdignition.com/pdf/pdf17.pdf)

Tells you what wiring harness you need. http://home.off-road.com/~ifsja/tech/electrical/ignitionupgrade.htm
