I just got finished messing with my jeep. I made sure the new wires and connections were solid and then remembered I had my chevy egr on there. I have a thick blockoff plate so I threw it on there with a gasket. Would there be any problems doing this on a stock 360 with reman. 2150 carb?
I took her for a test drive around the block and she didn't wanna start and had this grumble like something was in her throat. I also had a strong fuel smell, but saw no leaks.
What could it be?

blocking the egr will make the mix leaner....
if strong gas smell.... make sure the power valve is connected to manifold vacuum and not leaking

Just exactly what is the power valve and where is it located?
I deleted all of my air equipment!
It just does this on start-up or cranking over and over till she catches. Then once warmed up she's good to go. I think that reman carb is screwy.

the power valve is at the bottom of the carb, in the middle front (facing forward) between the mixture screws.... exactly behind the mess of the vacuum hose, and the spark plug wires

yea big problem with bypassing EGR - it lowers the combustion chamber temperature thereby preventing stuff like detonation and promoting long engine life... your car though....

but didn't some early models come without an egr...i know edlbrock offers a non egr manifold, what else would you have to do to the old 360 to make it a non-egr system?

The mixture at cruse will be too lean with a carb jetted to work with EGR,
So either swap to a non-EGR carb or go to larger jets in the current carb.
