I recently got one of those J-truck style towing mirrors to put on my '77 Wag tow rig. Still looking for a passenger side mirror, BTW.

Anyway, I'd like to mount it in the factory location on my door -- unless you J-truck owners tell me that it would be better located somewhere else. I'd like to know two dimensions to help locate the center of the upper mounting screw hole.

How far below the top edge of the door body is the center of the hole? You may have to lift up the vent window weatherstrip to see the edge of
the body.

How far forward of the rear edge of the window channel (between the main window and the vent window) is the center of the hole?

Obi Wan,

If you have the factory tripod mount mirror, My 88 grand wagoneer has them from
the factory I can get you the locations tonight. I thought you were in southern calif.
whats up with NE ?? (The factory used well plugs, that are the same as used to
mount the roof rack, takes a ~1/2" hole to mount them like the factory did). Whatever
came of the red Cherokee that came from Wash/Oregon ?

I think you have me confused with somebody else. I've lived in Lincoln all my life, and I know nothing of a red Cherokee from Wash/Oregon.

That'd be great if you could get those dimensions. I've never heard of a GW with those mirrors, but that's Jeep for you, I guess. Any chance you could get a decent photo of those well plugs, or know where I can get them?

OK,

Must be another guy I was thinking about.
I'll get you the dimentions and the POP brand part # for the well plugs.
(Jeeps OEM supplier) Don't have the digital camera setup right now though.
And if I did my camera has about 16 pixels of resolution so it is pretty
much junk anyway.
