does anyone know the travel length of shocks required for a 6in bjs lift on a 90 wag. I have a friend selling some rs9000xls he bought for a 4 runner but they were too small for him... he said 14 inches of travel.. would that work for my lift..

I think I am running RS5118's (same as the RS9118 in the 9000 series) on my J10. Its been a while since I put them on. I know I did end up putting longer ones up front. The travel is not what you need to know, its the end type and the compression and extended lengths.

I'm running those Rancho 9000X's with my 6" BJ's lift. I haven't had any issues yet on my 89 GW. My springs are pretty stiff still and I haven't reached full extension or compression of the shocks. You'll need to cut the fenders before you fully compress the shocks with 33's though.

RS5118s Extended lengths 22, compressed lengths 14.05, travel 8.2, bushing width 1.449 bushing I.D. .625
RS9118s Extended lengths 22.15, compressed lengths 14.23, travel 7.92, bushing width 1.449 bushing I.D. .625
RS99918s Extended lengths 22.19, compressed lengths 14.2, travel 7.89, bushing width 1.449 bushing I.D. .625
I dont know if this will answer your questions about what shocks fit, but it will give you the dimensions of the units in question.

The ones we sell with the kit: The fronts are about 29" extended and the rears are about 26" extended.

I pulled that together from several sources a few years back.
I'm sure there are others out there but that chart eliminates all the ones that do not fit (at least at that time) as in bushing sizes and mounting.

Interesting. I measured the distance of mine just sitting on all fours and it was 23" in the front and back. That's with SOA/SF. I need to get some shocks for it.
