depends how long you want the paint to stay ;p

Its aluminum, so i wouldent sand it...as you would gouge the metal. I would wash it good, then use some enamle reducer to get rid of any oils on it (including oils from your skin) then shoot it. If done right the paint should stay for a long time (assuming its good paint and not cheapo stuff)

I'd sand it with fine grit then wetsand. Just want to take the shine off so the paint has a little bite.
