I'm new to this site today, but have a serious question on what to do here! I have a '76 Cherokee Chief with the Borg Warner 1339 and low range reduction unit. I got a mechanic working on it now, and he says the sun gear is shot and there are metal fragments inside the t case. what's my best option here. Where would one find a nice quadratrac unit with low range? I know bjsoffroad has one, and there's one on ebay now, but what are the chances i'd get one with the same symptoms? I guess they don't manufacture that sun gear anymore. Or would it be wise, since the t-case is out, to do a mile marker kit? We just rebuilt the motor (amc 360) and got over 400ftlbs torque and over 300hp. I just would like to know the best option for the drivetrain. thanks to all that can help!

MM kit. Just stay off the stupid pedal in 4WD, the front shaft doesnt engage with much. At least if you frag that you can buy individual replacement parts, you get rid of the unobtanium brake cones, and well, it's just plain cool :D 1:1 kit if you're wheeling.

Go buy the last NOS Quad on Ebay.
Then post an ad for a reduction box for it in the wanted section here.
Enjoy the Quad it is your friend.

It has a broken mounting tab. Swap the guts into a good case and go.
