I just took the radiator out of my 88 GW Last night and it's pretty ratty with one of the mounts broken off. Sprung a pretty big leak yesterday and nasty as all get out inside. No shops open on Saturday, and I have just about decided to just get a new one. I checked the local parts houses and they all sell GDI. for around $200. I called a couple of on-line places and talked to the same guy at the same warehouse everytime. He has this:
Modine 3 row:$169 plus $8 shipping
GDI 3 row: $185 plus a little higher shipping
Both are $20 less if I want the one year warranty over the lifetime.
Isn't the Modine US made? I think I am gonna order the Modine. Any reasons not to? Also what's ya'lls thinking on the warranty. I never get the extended warranty on anything, but this seemed like it might be worth it. Any thoughts?
Also I already have my old one off. Do I need to put it back on and flush my system before I get the new one? Thanks for your help.

I would get the modine, I say this cause that is what my radiator man sells as his premium, and they have never let me or any of my customers down.

I use Modine cause they have a life time warranty, I have never had a problem with them (that wasn't caused by myself) or the car, fan thru the radiator. Very good quality, but if you could afford an aluminum crossflow, that will be the way I go the next time. Much better cooling.

I am happy with the Modine 3 core that was put in my 89 almost 2 years ago.

Modine is good, but so is GDI. Don't count on that Modine being made int he USA. Modine may have factories here, but they also have a big factory in Nuevo Larado, Mexico. I think the quality is the same.

I just got a GDI 4 row from radiator doctor. It was $179 + about $15 for a lifetime warranty. Ordered it Tuesday afternoon and was on my porch when I got home from work Wednesday.

Hey JallenWAG, what is the website for the radiator doc? I checked around alittle on the net and couldn't find one for them specific. I am in need of one for my J10! Thanks

Maybe I'm just the rare case, but I've gone through 2 GDI 4-core Heatbusters in under 8 months. I will be going with something else as I don't trust anything from GDI anymore, and will most likely grab a 4-core Modine just to change things up.
Just my experience ... ;)

Buddy, if you're not in a super hurry, I'll be passing thru Texarkana next Thursday evening or Friday morning and I've got a couple good radiators out back I could let go really cheap. One's a 3 row, one's a 4 row.
You probably need one quicker than that though. Just let me know.

Glenn, I sent you an e-mail. I won't be back in town till later on Thursday, but will be here all day Friday. I'll holler at you after I get mine looked at in the morning. I drive the Jeep every day, but I have a Chev. PU that needs driving a little bit anyway. Thanks a bunch.

MODINE...definitly. I got one and it works too good in the winter. I need to install a higher temp thermostat. Anyways I would also spend the extra $$$ and change out the heater core along with the ALL the hoses. Just my .02$.

Thanks for all the input. I got one coming from Glenn. If I do ever get a new one, I'm going with the Modine.
