I just bought a slightly smaller belt. I know, its too simple but it works well. I went from maxed out and squealing to all the way in and tight.

i emailed gates and the only size they thought would work would be the 7512. these are 1" smaller in diameter than the 7516.

Who the hell is gates? I just walked into the local Checker's (CSK) with the big belt and said "Lets find one a bit smaller" and we did. An inch might be right. Give it a shot. If it doesn't work, return it.

gates is a major belt manufacturer. i wrote them that the 7516 was too long and i needed the next size down. your approach might work if the counter monkies here in podunkville knew what customer service was.
