Here lately i have noticed that while in a turn or at, lets say idle speed in drive, i get a knocking sound coming from the rear end. I have replaced the much needed brakes and did a fresh gear oil change today..... but the problem remains... I am thinking axle shafts but i am not too sure....any help or comments appreciated

This would be my first suspect Slip Stick Condition (http://www.ifsja.org/tech/tcase/slipstik.shtml) ;)

Thanks guys, I am going to check the QT unit today...also while I was at O'riellys buying my differential juice, the guy there pointed me in the direction of some junk called "Equa-torque" for track-lok/ limited slip diffs. Well in my hurriedness to finish the gear oil change i bought it and put it in....but on the back of the container it says not to put the "Equa-torque" in to AMC JEEP's with Quadratrac.....What do you guys think will happen with the stuff in my rear end???

If it wasn,t to big of a bottle, I think you rear end should be fine. The jeep should live also.

You put the additive in the rear differential, not in the transfer case, right?
The warning is there because apparently, equatorque is not an exact replacement for the friction modifier that is added to the oil in the BW1339 transfer case.
Adding it to your rear differential with a posi would be good, and would not matter with an open carrier.
later,
Daniel
P.S. Drive your rig offroad more to let those clutches in your QT move!

Well, i guess you could ask around for a used one. Post in the wanted forum or email crazy jeep man aka pete peterson.
BJ's offraod www.bjsoffroad.com (http://www.bjsoffroad.com) carries them for just over $180. You want a morse chain, not some cheap imported chain like from jc whitney
