I have a spare tranny cooler laying around and since I will be towing a fair amount with my waggie once it is running again I figure it wouldn't hurt to have 2. Unless of course there is a reason not to that anyone knows of. So where do you all think the best place to mount this would be?

G, I doubt you'd need two, one should be plenty to keep your tranny cooled...

i ran 2, the stock one in the rad, and one out of a auto j20, that goes infront of the rad. i would put it under the body, passengerside, under front seat.

I think cow killer's idea is best, but -
I have the stock one in the radiator, in front of that is a Jeep tranny cooler, and in front of that is a small fin tranny cooler from Uhaul (about 6" X 9"). I'm betting I don't need three, but the tranny guy told me you can never have too much cooling.

Some day I may move the stock one where CK suggested. Not sure how to mount it safely.

Keep in mind that your automatic tranny does need the fluid to be at "OPERATING" temp to be most efficient, otherwise it won't perform as efficiently as it should. If you do decide to mount another cooler, you may want to install a temp controlled solenoid that will only open the line when it reaches a certain temp to prevent overheating, yet you still are able to maintain your tranny at the proper temp.

mount it on your blue trailer until you need it..........

I will probably just find a place to mount it. The tranny cooler portion of my radiator is blocked off so I think I will be safe with two.

I put mine in front of the gas tank like the new chevs have.made brackets to existing skid plate mounts.

Some random thoughts (I don't spend much time thinking about stinkin' slushboxes, so y'all please correct me if I'm off base):

Is it not typical to mount add-on coolers so that they pick up the fluid AFTER it leaves the radiator? This seems backward to me. A heat exchanger becomes more efficient as temperature differential rises. If the cooler were plumbed upstream of the radiator, it would dump more heat to the air, and less to the engine coolant. When it's cold, the radiator would re-warm the fluid to more a appropriate temperature before returning it to the tranny.

How about mounting it behind the grill, but in front of the core support, where the holes are that the Rhino grills leave exposed (ya know, what look like holes for foglights).

Like this maybe? B&M SuperCooler, works great.

I also have a thermostat to go inline with the cooler for winter. I just have to plumb it in. It bypasses the cooler when the fluid temp is below 185degf. Here's photo of the t-stat and also a neat new B&M product. Integrated cooler, fan and thermal switch. With these parts you don't need to run your trans fluid through the radiator.
