This last weekend my rear U Joint Bit the dust. I am trying to replace it and am having a HARD time finding the right part. It is the U-joint that attaches the Shaft to the rear axle. I have tried Napa and Pep boys and they keeps selling me the wrong one. It is the inner lock ring type. This is on my 1970 wag. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Wow never had that problem. Take the measurements, 3 1/4" X 3 1/4" I think they are. They should be able to give you that.

I got them from NAPA. Try this though see if they give you a different one for a 69.

I don't know about a 70, but my 74, 79, and 82 all use 1310 series U-joints that are 3 1/4" cap to cap. They are an external snap ring type. Bring your u-joint with you to the parts store and measure. try getting them for a different year. etc

Are they high school kids workin the Napa store? I always have that problem when they have kids behind the counter. Better to bring the part with you.

Yes they are High school kids. But this time I was smart and brought the part with me. Iasked for the one from a 69 wag. It looks like it is the correct one. I will find out after work.

I had the exact same problem trying to locate those u joints for my 68 thru those "generic" part stores...
If I remember correctly...the caps with the clips are 1.0"in. diameter and the others are
1 1/16"in. on a 3 1/4" spread. I had to go to a specialty driveline house to get the right ones...and they weren't cheap! http://www.powertrainindustries.com/
Maybe you can find a house like this in Va.
Good Luck

Yup thats what I figured, you have a early 70 thats why they were different. 69 and down is what you need. Some of your rig is 70 and some is 69 LOL
