The barn doors are finally painted. Our shop has been busy and we are now moving to a much larger shop. The doors got paint on Tuesday. The windows will be ordered and installed next week. Look for a build thread in the tech section very soon.

Not really a fan of the double license-plate things; but aside from that, very nice... what if you made it a metal strip across there instead of two separate ones? (granted, the suggestion is seemingly a little late)

Me too. I want to do that sooo bad, but, , , no parts, no mad skills like you, just not possible for me. But I am thinking of getting tricky with the woodgrain and trying to make my wag look like a psuedo woody. The barn doors all 'grained up would really be the icing on the cake. We'll see. One day at a time. Got body work and paint first.

Now why couldn't someone come up with a design like that in the first place?!

they did, in the early years there was a production model that had barn doors on it, there was one on c/l here in the seattle area for a long time.

They had it on panel deliveries and some military versions. I researched them and used a fair amount of pics as reference. The factory ones didn't have the cutout for the license. It was just a license light with bracket bolted on the surface of the driver's side door. I figured if I was going to the effort of making them, they would have what I felt should have been factory. I'm still debating on adding some woodgrain to match the sides. Maybe I'll figure out how to paint woodgrain and redo the rest of the truck

Very impressive, though it doesn't help me to know I'm moving down to Phoenix this summer with a busted tailgate, and a fellow nearby who whipped up barn doors. :D

Great work!

Nice work there. We, here in Pakistan, have a few similar looking barn doored Wags.. These doors however are borrowed from Toyota Land Cruisers here. :).

There's a video floating around somewhere of a group of Pakistani guys that convert 2 door YJs and TJs to 4 and 6 door configurations. I think it was for military and tourism use.

Thing is, these guys do all of the work with hand tools. No air compressors, no power tools. All they had was an acetylene torch and a welder, and a whole lot of hammers and blocks. The work these gentlemen put into their vehicles, the attention to detail and the care they put in to make sure the job is done right was amazing. The Jeeps they produced were flawless. Looked like they came right out of the factory that way, long before Jeep even considered the 4 door JK.

It's hard for me to even think of using the excuse "But I don't have the tool for that." after watching that video. I have a whole lotta respect for Pakistani tin benders.
