Going to wax my new-to-me '89 Grand Wag for the first time this weekend. What's the best way to clean up/shine up the wood? Same wax I'd use on the body or is there something better?
Beside being a bit faded, the paint and wood vinyl are in pretty good shape.

Back when my wood grain looked nice, I thinned some mop and glo down with a little water and used a sponge to wipe a light film on the wood grain and the outer trim about twice a year. It held up pretty good until the SW sun baked it out.

I use the same wax for the entire thing. I couple waxes really brought it back to life!

Hey now!
It can't hurt. I just use the standard wax.

Just curious, but if the wood sticker is worn can you take new wood stickers and put them over the old ones if they are clean? I am not quite ready to paint the entire rig right now, but I thought about sprucing it up for a few years before I do.

Is it me or is this header just one that could get you scorned by the moderators? It get hung up on it every time I scan the page.
:hide: At the risk of annoying Janie (again), this thread is NOT what I was expecting from the title.

AAAHHHHH....the smell of freshly waxed vehicles is in the air. Spring is here! Just use the same wax that you put on the paint and it will be fine. ;)

it supposedly doesnt need any wax, or anything other than some soapy water & then a good rinse & thats what i'll be doing once i apply my nos di-noc.
also, regarding another post, you can apply new vinyl over the top of the old, i know a reseller of wagoneers who regularly applies the grain in this manner.

I use Mother's on the whole rig. Then, I take one of my kids crayons to fill in all of the digs and scratches in the vinyl, take the same wax rag that I used to buff and have at the scratch. The excess comes right off and the crayon stays in the groove! Works like a charm. Now if I can only find a cover up solution to all of the darned vinyl flaking everywhere else :(
