It looks like I might be able to but my wife the Grand Wagoneer sometime in the coming weeks.

What do you guy's think is a fair price for a good running Grand in California.

I am new to the grand Wagoneer thing so have never really priced them. There is none here in my area so going to southern California is probably going to be my only option.

Any advice or help would be great thanks.

I got an '88 GW , from a tranny shop owner, which he told me he had his guys rebuild the trans and t-case. It had about 140K on it and a 4" lift and 31" tires. The clear coat was just starting to "lift" and flake off. The interior is in great shape. I spent $2000 on it and its been the most expensive one I've bought. So far, I've swapped the rear axle, and put a fresh, TBI'ed motor into it and would not hesitate to take it on a 3-400 mile trip. would probably go further.

Just my .02. Good luck and hope it helped...

Souther Cal, they go for between $80,000 and $80 all depends on the buyer and seller, and condition. For the most part anything close to $10,000 has to be in very nice shape, then anything goes on more used more beat ones.
Expect to be putting $'s in as you go if you plan on running it, they are now mostly 30+ year old trucks.

MDill X2. IMO, you're crazy wanting a Grand Wag for a daily driver. They are too maintenance intensive. And too thirsty. I had 2 of them on the road for about 5 yrs. I was plenty busy. Gas was ~1.25 a gallon and I was spending a 100$ a week. Go with something newer and less thirsty

Paid under $1000 for my '86. I have about $2700 in it including lift wheels tires and repairs. I drive it around 80 -100 miles a day and love every minute of it!! Just bought a '88 for parts, complete rust free non-runner for $300!! Dont mind the little extra gas....all things considered its CHEAP reliable, safe, FUN transportation!! Oh and for the record my wife loves drivin my GW. She would trade me her Excursion for my Waggy in a sec!!

Got my '90 waggy from Georgia. Hauled it back to Arkansas. Everything worked except rear glass defroster, and cruise control. Well, I say everything - it didn't have any oil pressure when I picked it up. Pulled the oil filter and distributer, turning the oil pump by hand (large screwdriver) to re-establish suction. Cost me $3K for the jeep, about $400 there and back in gas, and not much else at this point. I put a new battery in, changed the oil when I had the filter off (new filter as well), and new air filter. Small piddly-type stuff. Yes, the mileage is terrible compared to todays vehicles, but it makes up for it in character! I've only seen two others in town (50K in size).

Just picked up an RV cam, lifters, timing set and gaskets to re-cam it. think I've got a worn lifter, and wanted better mileage, so this is just my next step. The kit was around $250.

Find one you like, and buy it. If stuff's wrong with it, then price should drop accordingly.

Heres an awesome start for you. I believe it would be emissions exempt and is a reasonable price for one this nice. Hope this helps....
