Just doing some Jeep day dreaming.. Has anyone ever customized the tailgate and/or rear of their J-truck? They are so flat and the nice body lines just end on the sides. I also am not a fan of the old school lettering/font used on the gate.
I am thinking of things like wrap around tail lights and then eliminate the side marker, bringing some of the body lines around or something. I dunno, what do you guys thing?
Maybe it is like the brow; it is a small part of what makes it a Jeep.

I like custom body work and have done a lil of it long ago but I can tell what I don't like... and that's where guys take the back half of a cherokee and graft it into a crappy looking bed on a JTruck. To be honest, I think it's like you said... that's what makes it a Jeep. That said, there may be some neat things that could be worked up I'm sure, just don't make it look pansy azz please. :D These aren't Rancheros.  Ever seen a bad looking Ranchero? No, didn't think so...

Now, Eric did a nice looking rollpan on his channeled Sportside that looks good to me.

It has a tube tail gate and chopped about 31 inches

blasphemy, you want blasphemy?
I was also thinking that a Wagoneer/Cherokee style roof would look awesome on a J-Truck rather than the brow-full or brow-less.
I don't wear cowboy hats, so I don't need all that air space up there.
I aree about the grafted on Wagoneer/Cherokee rears; that does not look right. I am not a body man, nor do I have the money to pay one for such custom endevors, but I do like to think of alternative designs that will not kill the Jeep-ness look of the truck.
If my truck ever gets to the point where I am really worried about it, I have won the lottery or something.

When I think of modifying a Jeep, I lean more towards doing a 4 door truck. I almost have enough bodies, just have not found the Cummins 4x4 frame for it yet.....
