View Full Version : How Heavy is a Bare FSJ Body?
I have the ChopTop body separated from the frame and sitting on my lift. I need to move into storage while the frame gets built and so that I can start working on the SuperChief again.
Can I build or buy some sort of rolling dolly to set it on? Would scaffolding work?

I lifted my wagoneer body with a engine hoist, rolled it around set it on the new frame no real problems. It is manageable. I am lifting a gutted Cherokee body in two weeks , me and three big friends. I will have some idea of weihgt then.

Home Depot push carts (for customers) ask my brothers! I made them take them back.................I picked up a bare cab with an engine hoist, be careful how you attach to pick up cab, so it does not tilt, well that probably was not that helpful...................this is how we did my brothers 69 Bronco. 4 sawhorses, 2 4 X 8's, 4 people. Set sawhorses (taller than tires, we used heavy duty wood sawhorses) in place, pick up one end of vehicle, put 4 X 8 underneath and on top of sawhorse, lower cab, repeat at other end. Roll chassis out of the way. Not the prettiest, but it did the job. It never fell while positioned like that, but no one worked on or under cab in that position.
I think I will build something out of lumber with heavy casters that will allow me to get it off the lift, move it around and then be able to pick it back up with the lift to rejoin the body with the completed frame.

do you have a kinda small open trailer that can handle around 2000 pounds? that would be pretty simple.
