Hi everybody,
If a 72 Jeep Jtruck has a (AMC) 360, 3 speed auto tranny, D44's front and rear, and a D-20 Transfer case, which model number is it? 4500 or something else?

Thanx!

I think model designations in those years depended on wheelbase. I think being a half ton makes it a J2000, with the exact model number depending on the wheelbase.

It's either a J2500 (short bed) or a J4500 (long bed) with the Dana 44's.

Ah haa! Thanks you guys!!

So it is a 4500 then-too funny, I had some words with a friend today who swore upside down and backward that it was a 4000. Is it a 3/4 ton, or a 1/2 ton? (Can't remember how to figure out the difference, doh Annie...)

D44 rear should make it a 1/2 ton.

For all intents and purposes, it IS a J4000.

J4000 is the chassis code , J4500 is the body code. At least that's the way it worked for '71 models.
